At first I was a little disappointed that so many of their recent singles have been included on the album: Nee, Spice, Glitter. But these songs hang together very well with the new material. Like every Perfume album, the music is instantly enjoyable, but at the same time much more rewarding with repeated listenings.01. The Opening (100 BPM) - A delightful little touch of YMO/Sakamoto here. A short instrumental that seriously wouldn't be out of place on a Yellow Magic Orchestra album. 02. Laser Beam (Album-mix) (135 BPM) - A very Japanese vocal opening to this new album. The single came out a couple of months ago. A very strong Techno Pop song with some colourful electronic features and mixes of the voices. Classic Perfume styling. 03. GLITTER (Album-mix) (134 BPM)- The "Triangle" album had "Edge" and JPN has "Glitter". A big Techno Pop song that will undoubtedly be heard in clubs and remix albums soon. At just over... The group is made up of 3 Japanese girls that perform in an electropop/ technodance style, sometimes reminding me of Y.M.O. (Yellow Magic Orchestra). This album is brimming with upbeat songs, great arrangements, interesting chord changes, and outstanding vocals.Although I only recently discovered them while surfing around on Youtube,they have been around for a few years. They have released a number of CD singles and 3 other albums that I know of ("Complete Best", "Triangle", and "Game"). Wikipedia.com. has alot of interesting information concerning how the group evolved and other groups the girls were involved in before they became Perfume. This particular album ("JPN") was my first introduction to this group. This is a fantastic album that makes you feel really good when you listen to it. I would say that this album, "JPN", is possibly their greatest to date, and that's saying a lot! |
