Anna and the Cupcakes

Product Description

On their sophomore full-length album, Anna and the Cupcakes, the award winning Bari Koral Family Rock Band delivers a stellar 10-song collection of indelible melodies ranging stylistically from roots pop-rockers to infectious blues to country-tinged kickers. Koral has firmly established herself in the rich tradition of children s music, while uniquely exhibiting a deep emotional and fun-loving connection with her audience thanks to catchy songs, entertaining themes and a lot of music and movement. On Anna and the Cupcakes, Koral serves up a tasty selection of songs, including the title track about disappearing cupcakes. Anna and the Cupcakes has become a bit of an anthem for young children who, Koral notes, love to sing their hearts out on the choruses. The album also features a scampering gingerbread man, a cocoon turning into a butterfly, a zooming rocket ship, and more. The CD includes a poppy/happy cover of the folk-rock band the Avett Brothers Kick Drum Heart. I chose Kick Drum Heart because it s a great song and I love that children may hear the song and learn what a kick drum is, says Koral. The bouncy funk-inflected Dragon Comes To Dinner tells a dragon tale while introducing children to the blues. Featuring strings that give the song a cinematic quality, Butterfly is loosely based on the children s book, The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle. The Bari Koral Family Rock Band features support from jazz keyboardist and bassist Dred Scott (who also produced the album), guitarist John Bertsche, and acclaimed pop and Broadway drummer Eric Halvorson. The album was mixed by the Grammy-nominated producer and engineer Dan Myers (Brady Rymer and Laurie Berkner). Koral formed the Bari Koral Family Rock Band in 2007 and recorded an eponymous six-song EP, which immediately found an audience of youngsters and their parents. In 2010, they followed up that success with Rock and Roll Garden, which became a hit on the family-music scene, earned critical acclaim, received heavy rotation on radio stations like Sirius XM Kids Place Live and won the Nappa Gold Award and Parents' Choice Silver Award.

Anna and the Cupcakes is Bari Koral's latest album and she just keeps getting better and better! This album just brings a smile to my face whenever I listen to it, either with my kids, or all alone. So that is a great compliment to an artist who writes for families...when the mom even listens to it when the kids aren't in the car! Anna and the Cupcakes is wonderful and I suggest taking it along for the ride this summer during all of your family trips!

We have both this and Rock and Roll Garden and think they are great.

Our kids - ages 7, and two almost 4 year olds, love the music. They are in constant play in the car, house, you name it. We've even introduced it to our twins' pre-school.

This is some great kids music that EVERYBODY can enjoy.

After the first listen, my 5 year-old begged me to play it again. And again. And again. And what was really great, I enjoyed the songs, too! These weren't kids' songs dumbed down, but smart pop songs that parents can enjoy, too. I highly recommend this CD! Best tracks: Gingerbread, Anna and the Cupcakes, Rocket Ship and Hearts; but really, every song is wonderful. :)
